QnA w/ Frank Termini

Q:  Talk about your background, give us a little history on yourself.

A: I graduated from St. Pius High School in 1997.  I attended Benedictine college on a football scholarship.  During my freshman year of college I tore my ACL requiring surgery.  I did rehab for 9 months and attempted to play again my sophomore year, only to tear it again requiring another surgery.  For the next eight years I searched for something to fill the void that football left.  I started training jiu-jitsu at 28 years old after my cousin forced me to go to a class.  I was hooked after my first class.

Q:  How long have you been practicing jiu-jitsu, and how often do you train?

A: I have been practicing BJJ for 4 years.  Unfortunately I only train 2x a week, Three times on a good week.

Q:  What are your goals in both jiu-jitsu and physical/fitness?

A: My goals at this stage in my life are simply to avoid injury and be able to train for a long as I can.  If I get ranked (in BJJ) in the mean time, great, if not that's fine to.  I just want to participate as long as my body will allow me to, and maybe pass the knowledge on to my nephew or daughter.  From a physical fitness stand point my main goals are flexibility, endurance and injury prevention.

Q: Talk about the 12wk online Personalized Nutrition Plan you did w/ Travis.  What were your results?

A: Travis gave me a nutrition plan that was more detailed than any other plan I had been given in the past.  It even had a variety of options for each meal.  The plan consisted of six meals with various options for each meal.  It was difficult to follow at first, but after two to three weeks of following it it became very easy.  It taught me how to make the necessary life style change I needed to in order to lose weight.  I went from 210 to 190 lbs.

Q:  What are the differences between the PNP and other diets, gyms, etc. that you have tried?

A: The PNP was more conducive to my life style.  I never felt hungry.  I actually felt as if I was eating all the time.  The varieties also help prevent the blandness of eating the same thing over and over.

Q: Now you just had your first child recently, and soon to be married to…big changes in your life, how do you feel about getting a hold of your health, for you and your family?

A: This was huge for me.  I was always able to compensate for a poor diet with excessive training.  However, with a new baby, wife, and business this was no longer possible.  This is when I turned to Travis.  I had to learn a new way of life and he taught me.  I didn’t realize how bad  I felt until I cleaned up my diet and felt my energy level shoot through the roof.  I was more productive in all aspects of life.

Q:  What recommendations do you have for others reading this out there?

A: If you are trying to loose weight, don’t think about dieting.  Dieting tells your mind that what is going on is temporary.  You need to think in terms of a LIFE STYLE CHANGE, which yields more permanent and long lasting results.

Q:  Anybody you would like to thank, give a shout-out to?  Anything else you would like to say?

A: Travis at Underground and all the guys at KCBJJ (Kansas City Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) who beat me up cause I was too heavy and out of shape to keep up, as well as my smoking hot wife Michelle, who if you were to rate her ass on a 1-10 scale it would easily be a 9.  Michelle really helped my change by changing with me and making our health important to her as well.  My daughter Gianna, the sight of her completely changed me perpetually.

Thanks for your time Frank!
