Healthcare Personal Training Tax Benefits

Did you know that your personal training may be tax deductible?

If a doctor states that you need personal training due to any health care condition you can deduct the entire amount of your training for the year.  Examples of health care needs for personal training include but are not limited to:

·         Fatigue

·         Weakness

·         Body pain

·         Restless legs

·         Postural abnormalities

·         And many more…

How do you take advantage of the tax benefits for health care costs?

First thing to remember is that you must have a doctor’s order for training.  If you do not have a medical need you can’t write off your training.  You can get a medical order from your medical doctor, chiropractor or specialist.

If the company you work for offers a healthcare savings account or a benefit card  simply sign up for the program and start using your card to pay for your training.

If your company does not offer a healthcare savings account or a benefit card pay for all of your training costs now, save the receipts, and turn them in to your accountant at the end of the year.  It is that simple!!

All medical expenses are subject to a tax deduction.  Medical expenses are the costs of diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease, and the costs for treatments affecting any part or function of the body. These expenses include payments for legal medical services rendered by physicians, surgeons, dentists, and other medical practitioners. They include the costs of equipment, supplies, and diagnostic devices needed for these purposes.  Medical expenses include the premiums you pay for insurance that covers the expenses of medical care, and the amounts you pay for transportation to get medical care.

You can also write off all of the medical expenses for your wife, children or any dependent.  This means that your entire family can get personal training, with a medical need, for absolutely free.
