Battling Sickness this Season
All I hear these days is how everyone is sick with the flu, common head cold, sinus infection, etc. Tis the season. However, with some basic hygienic measures and supplementation through your diet to rev your immune system you can battle the sickness this year. Use these simple steps daily to stay healthy this season!
Basic Hygienic Measures
- Do not touch your eyes, nose, or mouth unless its after hand washing
- Wash your hands constantly
- Be mindful of public places such as work, restrooms, gyms, etc.
- Clean your bathrooms and kitchen at home, especially if other family members have come down with something. Lysol spray and simple wipe downs of door handles go a long way.
Basic Supplementation
- Take in some form of natural, rich antioxidants through fruit or juices. Very popular today and gaining alot of ground in the health community is a native Brazilian fruit called Acai Berry. It's antioxidant properties far exceed that of any other berry. (berries are known for there high antioxidant count).
- Supplement with 1000-2000mg of Vitamin C.
- Take 5-40g of glutamine powder. Glutamine is your body's most abundant amino acid with many health benefits. Among them, immune system boosting.
- Drink plenty of water.
- Maintain proper sleep and rest time.
In addition to what is listed above if you feel something coming on, scratchy throat, unusual fatigue, etc. follow these simple measures to battle the sickness before it totally takes hold. If you are already sick still follow these tips to help you recover faster and prevent a relapse:
- Drink extra water. More than you normally do. Water speeds up all your body processes and ensures optimal blood flow and nutrient delivery.
- Take Vitamin C and Zinc lozenges. Both of these have been proven in studies to shorten the duration or severity of a common cold.
- Supplement with 250-500mg of Echinachea. This is a natural herb that the Native Americans used to boost immune system function. You can find it just about anywhere and it is very affordable.
Good luck!
